Omega 3 (ALA)

Omega 3 fatty acids are essential, because the body cannot make them itself, so they have to be obtained from the diet. There are two major dietary sources: plant based Omega 3 known as alpha linolenic acid (ALA) and those found in oily fish (EPA and DHA). ALA is found in chia seeds, linseeds, pumpkin seeds, soya beans, walnut and rapeseed oils, green leafy vegetables and grains.

Experts advise that eating 2g of ALA a day can help to maintain healthy levels of cholesterol*.
